New OVERDRIVE album mixed!

Post by Stark »

We have now finished mixing the new OVERDRIVE album "Let The Metal Do The Talking" with producer Johan Blomström (Blinded Colony, Calm, Kaptain Sun etc) and we're really happy with the result!! He's captured the immortal 80s essence of the band, but still provided freshness and power to the production.

The final track list is as follows:

1. “Army Of Darkness” (Ericsson)
-A new rocker in the same high speed metal vein as the classic “Back On The Hunt” with a haunting harmony solo.

2. “Let The Metal Do The Talking” (Jacobsson/Stark)
-Straight ahead no nonsense heads down metal! The title says it all!

3. “Fight To The Finish” (Stark)
-Power chord metal stomper originally written back in 1985.

4. “Bring Me To Submission” (Stark)
-A newly penned driving metal number with some angry chords.

5. “Trapped Under Ice” (Jacobsson/Stark)
-Written for Overdrive’s third album back in 1985, mid-tempo melodic metal.

6. “Deceived” (Ericsson)
-A new and very heavy, slightly doom-oriented track penned by Kenth.

7. “Den of Iniquity” (Stark)
-The album’s instrumental track dedicated to all metal zines. Fast pace riffing and loads of guitars!

8. “Gravy Train” (Jacobsson/Stark)
-Another Jacobsson number from the 1985 writing session, finally gets a makeover.

9. “Chasing Highways” (Stark/Karlsson)
-Up tempo metal rocker, featuring Periloz first writing contribution to the band. Different from the pre-prod version on the Sweden Rock comp.

10. “Lodestar” (Jacobsson/Stark)
-An unorthodox, and for Kjell quite typical, mix of styles from doomy riffs to melodic parts.

11. “Sinister Warfare” (Stark)
-Up-tempo riff-oriented metal number with a half speed heavy chorus. Originally written back in 1985.

12. “Reincarnation” (Stark)
-10 minutes of everything from slow doom to riffing to Maiden-style plodding metal and a slow soft ending featuring guest singer Chris Catena.

The CD will also include a bonus - the video for "Back On The Hunt" (2006 version).

The cover is made by Monowasp (TNT, Dante Fox etc) and also follows in the fine old Overdrive tradition.

The album will be released in January 2008 on Lion Music.

Line-up:
Per "Periloz" Karlsson: vocals
Janne Stark: guitars
Kjell Jacobsson: guitars
Kenth Ericsson: bass
Kenta Svensson: drums

Up the irons!

One to get for sure!
And I guess there is still enough of unpublished Overdrive/Overheat stuff to fill another Overdrive album quite soon after this. 8)

Great news indeed! The latest post (dated 2007-10-18) at your website got me a tad worried as "Chasing Highways" was not mentioned in the track list but it's good to see it hasn't been dropped.
