I wonder why everyone is so focussed on that Brainwash LP. Alot of those malay records got great covers but Brainwash isn't that good musically. The Rockers LP's from Singahell or Rockerz - Dukun, Febians - Satu Antara Sejuta are MUCH better ...

Are people really still focused on it? Compared to the prices of 2008-9 I almost didn't pay anything. I definitly think the enthusiasm fell down about this one. It's a nice Heavy Metal album at its highest points, and it's regular malay rock ballad at its weakest. Victim on the other hand has some great, great tunes, really loves it. It's way less known than Brainwash but deserves more attention.

In all honesty, all these records are flawed by the mellow/pop rock attitude of some songs. Even for the best bands like Rusty Blade, Rockerz, Power Metal etc. Singapore and Malaysia gave their best tribute to Metal with the unmatched extremity of Abhorer, Rator, Nuctemeron, Xastur etc.

These bands had to play radio friendly material in order to get a record deal and their albums distributed by big record companies. That's why independent bands like the mentioned ones or Blackfire couldn't release albums back in the day. They simply refused to play 70 % ballads. lol
The band Bloodshed even had to change their name to Blackshed to keep on releasing albums. Well, all these malay vinyls are special ones, released mainly for airplay promotion. There aren't much available, officially they are only sold as cassettes. So get what you can ...

It wouldn't be the first time guys on this site or the "Metal" underground community in general hyped a record based on the cover art when the music was generic/boring or commercial radio friendly Rock.

Latest purchases of note. Sorry for the bad image quality, the sleeveless 45s are Masterstroke - Prisoner of Love + Kasl - Heavy Metal Lullaby (top row) and Centurion - Two Wheels + Lani - Power Surge (bottom row).

Sorry for last-second-killing of you Swedes this past Saturday.

Would you still replicate this weird coincidence to let it happen to me too? :)

Hah, no worries Roman. I had bet on the match ending a draw, so I was pissed off about the result. But in all fairness, Germany dominated the match and deserved to win.

Just wanted to say that thanks to your post I checked out Crush and it... crushes :|

Seriously, it's probably my favorite discovery of the year so far. I love it how whenever I think I won't find anything good anymore stuff like this keeps popping out.

Assorted additions to The Vault from these last couple of months:

Bazooka & Halloween were more or less for-completists-only additions to the Italy-section, but I freakin' luw ANACONDA! The MIRAGE track on 'Notepad..' is also very nice.

The ugly 2nd HAZ is more Metal than the good-looking debut, but not too special on the whole, i.e. nothing like Resistencia, Arkangel or early Gillman. (Maaaybe slightly better than Grand Bite or Fahrenheit...)
V/A-Thrash Heavy & Loud = mostly type-A 'Brutal Thrash' with not much of the trademark Brazilian Chaos left..
Really like the B-side on the INTRÜDER 12" - anyone has demos?
ASPID = bit of a disappointment. Not bad, but not as good as its rep imho..
