Toxik - Breaking Class Ep

Post by GulliverFoyle »

Another lonely night, another no name town
it starts to look the same, it starts to bring me down
so many promises you knew I'd never keep
I'll make it up to you, baby, don't give up on me

Yeah, it's a bit of a dazzler.

Gave it a listen. Plastic production, modern influences. Not surprised by that though.

Those didn't put me off that much. Still keen on it. They sounded modern back in the '80s after all.

You're talking about "Think This" and not "World Circus", right?

Not like there's a huge stylistic gulf between the two.

"Think This" was quite a bit more polished and restrained.

However, modern by 1989 standards and todays is a massive difference. Brings back memories of guys elsewhere on the internet that aren't able to tell the difference between Thrash and groove Metal.

Anyway, I gave these tracks a listen and couldn't get past the first couple minutes of each. I concur with the majority of opinions so far. A permanent stain on the past history.

Despite modern influences, I like it, there's enough content, that I find of interest, for example solo on the title track, hehe. Hey, there are actually solos here, and pretty good ones at that. I sense influences of one band I better not mention - that I won't upset some of the greatest Corro-members  And this ep is certainly not what wicked keeper said.

Of course I personally love Think This, but am around long enough, that I know expectations the band will make another Think This, or World Circus, for that matter, would be based on some serious mental illness or some strange religion, at best. Shame that they had to interrupt career in the 90's, but that's how it is/was.

Wonder if Matt/Divebomb could make a release of full-length, or they are negotiating something bigger. Gotta ask him, though.

Hard to argue with dudes who prefer Sanders to Sabin :D

Still new EP has better songs than pain and misery /count your blessings . :D 8)

I disagree with the production being bad, it sounds great to me.

Yes, it is modern, but for comparison I checked out Century Media, also on Bandcamp so as to not change the format (to youtube or something that sounds different).

The Century Media stuff was over-compressed, and you still couldn't hear the drums well on it. And besides that, it had a grating top-end, which was quite disturbing. Sometimes too much mid-range as well. The difference is night and day.

Together with Defiance and Forbidden this ranks as the most pointless and terrible old school thrash band return.
I understand they won't make an album like its still 1989, but this does not sound like Toxik at all.
