New Releases Discussion Topic (2016)
I've tried the search section but it doesn't shows relevant topics and thus I thought that this is a great opportunity to discuss recent releases. A couple telegraphic, short sentences for each release would be great. Personally, I want heads up in order to search for them (mainly in Spotify) and then, depending the outcome, to decide to buy them. There are so many of them (already 4964 new full length releases are archived in M-A) and obviously I don't have time to listen to all of them and thus a mapping is much needed. And I'm only speaking about heavy/power/prog/death/black metal releases here.
Need opinions for:
Aborted -Retrogore
Exumer- The Raging Tides
Master - An Epiphany of Hate
Anthrax- For All Kings
Deströyer 666- Wildfire
Artillery- Penalty by Perception
Ihsahn- Arktis.
Destruction- Under Attack
It's almost a certainty that I'll listen to all of them, but I wanted to get some opinions also.

Another lonely night, another no name town
it starts to look the same, it starts to bring me down
so many promises you knew I'd never keep
I'll make it up to you, baby, don't give up on me

My short comment about the releases above is...go get Demon Bitch instead!GulliverFoyle wrote:I've tried the search section but it doesn't shows relevant topics and thus I thought that this is a great opportunity to discuss recent releases. PS. It's true. Such a topic was definitely needed. Good to get some recs and opinions from some fellow old-schoolers.

Exumer- The Raging Tides
Thanks to spotify, I.ve spinned yesterday this beast! Great old school thrash with zero groove. For the last, I need to listen to it again to verify it. I'm still thinking how I missed it since it was an early January release. Probably I'll rate and buy it!

Inquisition- Bloodshed Across the Empyrean Altar Beyond the Celestial Zenith
I'm playing this while typing. Great rifftastic black metal from these escarabajos with excessive song titles. I think it comes with nice aging bouquet and has the potential to withstand the test of time. I will buy it!

Should Black Sword Thunder Attack release their album yet this year I will put my two cents as well.
But I doubt they will.

Destroyer 666 - Wildfire
Listened to this beast many times and...it's probably the best album from these Aussies. They take their black/thrash formula and inject it with a healthy does of pure heavy metal melody and fervor. There is thrashing to be had, but the songs flow perfectly and some even have Running Wild-like touches to them. Riffing is very catchy but still vicious. And the last track - "Tamam Shud" - is an epic, spine-tingling song.

Asphyx - Incoming Death
I've been spinning this on Spotify since its release day! Crushing doom/death! I've ordered it soon after the 3rd listening! I really can't say much about tracks etc, for the moment, because I still can't distinguish my thoughts on it! A latent Death-Slayer atmosphere is clearly lingering in the air though.

We are expecting this to release any time and I predict it will make quite an impact (at least in the underground).

Heard a sample, there's definitely some potential there.Priamos wrote:We are expecting this to release any time and I predict it will make quite an impact (at least in the underground).

Another obvious choice:
Yeah, my bad. If someone likes DB, should go for White Magician as well.fengisriprider wrote:Definitely Demon Bitch - Hellfriends and White Magician "The Pledge"

It's very rare that I will give praise to a new release but this is truely derived from the golden era with zero modern elements.
An enjoyable listen.
