Metal on camelback!

...and the comments in the WIKKA-thread inspired this topic. Let's list/recommend/discuss these awesome, exotic kind of tunes that evoke pictures of pyramids, sphinxes, and the eye of Horus! Let this classic set the mood while pondering:

...and I guess we could widen the scope right from the start to include any sort of Arabian Nights/endless desert plains-type vibe, like this godly Anthem:

Poison : Sphynx.
That one was inspired by the mighty Powerslave album.

The norvegian heavy doom band MAGISTER TEMPLI has released a full album last year (Into Duat) which is entirely based on egyptian mythology.

Forgot to tip my hat to the cool tips I hadn't heard before here, like Smokescreen, Sunset Blaze and Vengeance. I think all contributions so far more than proves my point in the op. Don't suppose the rest of the very common and easily available Vengeance album warrants a buy?

I've hyped them before, but here's a reminder. Weird'n'cooky but cool as hell - esp this wonderfully warped and preachy vid

(that's RAPTURE under a different name btw)

I'm told that "TRUE METAL is enemy of that 70's feeling", but how about some mighty '70's Proto-Metal desert action anyway?
Here's DUST's epic 'From A Dry Camel' from their excellent 1971 self-titled debut album:

While Black Contract is fucking awesome and might just be the most underrated Heavy Metal song ever I assume you meant to link to Stolen Salvation Dan?
Obviously we have Prime Offenders ''Powerslave'' and ''Curse of the Pharaos'' as well as just plain ''Egypt'' by Mercyful Fate
Heh, I've actually had a playlist on my spotify titled ''Egypt'' with just songs about that for years, glad there is an entire community of nerds thinking along the same lines!
Black Mummy by Death SS and Imprisoned with the Pharaohs by Cauldron Born deserves a mention!

And From a Dry Camel is easily among the greatest fucking songs of the Seventies! Metal or not metal!
It's almost Budgie-like nonsensical lyrics are still darkly suggestive enough! Writhing guitar of Electric Funeral meets middle eastern mysticism.

You can definitely tell those are punk musicians

There was a saying back in the day that a hardcore/crossover band was really just a punk band that could actually play

Good song.
The band's guitarist Fred Purser went on to play with the Tygers Of Pan Tang & Holosade and later produced Warfare & Lies Of Smiles.
