Guess is the same band.

Keir wrote:Maybe, but the Shooting From The Hip tracks are from a 1988 demo and the NWOBHM Demo Tapes CD says 1982. Not inconceivable that there could be 2 bands named Jackal. Does anyone have a tracklist for the NWOBHM Demo Tapes CD?

EDIT: "Tearing Me In Pieces" is actually not from that demo, but "Tourniquet" and their track "Fallen Angels" on the ORGAN17ISM compilation are.
Thanks a lot for giving an insight about it! The name of the song featured on the demo comp is "Don't look back" and apparently there's other two songs on that 82 tape (it says that on the back of the cd, which I don't own but a friend does). Also about the tracks on the "Shooting From The Hip" there are on youtube :D Will write my friend about it and it the sound is similar we can assume that is the same Jackal

According to a Metal Forces article (quoted here), the Shooting From The Hip band formed in February 1988 so I don't think it is.

Yep, heard the 82 track myself and it's definitly not the same band, starting by the fact that it's a male singer and the sound is completely different. If anyone want to hear it give me your email and I'll reply.

Yep - 2 demos and 1 Compilation participation (The Metal Collection Vol 2).
Lots of people here on the Forum don't consider them NWOBHM anymore for being too late.

The band didn't consider themselves to be part of the nwobhm movement, as they were influenced by the early thrash bands. I think one member used to post here in the past, I know we've been talking about their demo here at some point.

Who can be sure 100% that there weren't 2 bands with same name (ALIEN) at same time ?

Because this one has a totally different sound from the other one that was featured on One Take No Dubs, 60 Minutes Plus or All Hell Let Loose or even Neat Singles Collection Vol-2 for example...

Actually that has been confirmed to be a different Alien. It is the band Distrainers from their 1980-81 period when they were called Alien.

I had it tagged as a different Alien but wasn't aware it has that Distrainers relation.
Cheers.
