SOLAR EAGLE
"Solar Eagle/Charter to Nowhere" will be official re-released for the first time by Skol Records. Let's hope they'll do a better job than for SA SLAYER !!!

Not a fan of this band for the obvious reason, but I'll probably buy it anyway. And, yes, hopefully it won't be another mp3 sound quality reissue.

It has a poor sound quality, the full length has a thin and hollow sound and the EP sounds like a low bitrate mp3 rip. Haven't heard the albums from the original vinyls, however the 2-on-1 boot and the Perris rec. CD reissue sounded better. The booklet is well-done though, including lyrics of all tracks and photos.

Pity on the SA Slayer as the vinyl sounds great. This label screwed up the sound on Taist of Iron release too. I hear that also they reprinted the Robespierre cover art without getting permission from the owner. Seems this label has some serious issues, "watch out, buyer beware" I guess should be the byword....

That's an acquired taste of course but yes, I hear this as some of the finest recordings from America! But then again, this is why it makes it so unique, they didn't do one of the same with the rest of the bands at the time, not even songwriting wise.doomedplanet wrote:no it isn't, Solar Eagle vocals are perfect. Hope the release comes out good, but...

Well, to me he has nothing to do at all with the Tate school of singers but that too is an acquired perception I suppose.mordred wrote:I never thought of the Solar Eagle vocalist as much of an acquired taste. Sounds like the usual Queensrÿche worship to me. Of course he's not as good as Geoff Tate, Steve Benito, Tom Mallicoat or Midnight, but belongs to the same "family".

To me he sounds like an over the top mixture of John Cyriis and Syrus' vocalist - enough to make me cringe every time he goes wild over the mic, despite the band's intricate songwriting. No Tate or Mallicoat vocal style here I'm afraid, much less a Steve Benito one.
