There's not really any way to tell if you were close or not. The winner might have had a $300 bid as his max.Trigger wrote:All I know is that I was nearly thereKhnud wrote:Destroyer is a $300+ record. GREAT price!

Yeah, they're always thinking "I've lost the item for 1 $ difference" but in the end you never know what's the max. bid. Once I was bidding on a rare record and 5 seconds before auction was over it was still at 1 $ while then any other guy threw in a 50 $ bid. I did win the record anyway but winning it for 1 $ would have been way cooler ...Khnud wrote:There's not really any way to tell if you were close or not. Parts of South America does have heavy rain storms in the shape of El Nino that strikes once a year.Khnud wrote:Never seen a sleeved copy before. But what's the deal with South American records? Covers are nearly always fucked up!
Also the living standards are/were not as high as we are used to here in Europe, at least outside the major cities.
I am sure an actual South American will correct me on some (major) details, but these are the 2 biggest reasons the way I have understood it to why South American LPs are hard to find with a nice sleeve.
Also the quality of the paper that was used was bad.Warepire wrote:Parts of South America does have heavy rain storms in the shape of El Nino that strikes once a year.

Very thin-light paper and also lack of the coating that a picture sleeve should have.
