Late to the table, sorry...
Great one, cheers. US Legend meets Rush? The VOIVOD break around 5:30 in Kamikaze (riff-off?) made me :)

No, they had one prior to this though. When the other ASIA band came along they got into legal issues over the name and subsequently this(superior) ASIA decided to call it quits. I don't have the first album.

Also there is Whitewing which is pretty similar (a bit softer though) which pre-dates Asia.

Here's where I first read about them:

Both their albums are on the list of my favorite releases of all time. For years I am screaming that this band is a real diamond and they have gifted us with some really brilliant pieces of music.

@GJ

The WhiteWing album also rules!

Same goes for your avatar which is the cover of the Quicksand Dream CD, great stuff!

Cheers SB!

Another cool one with a somewhat similar vibe is A Taste of Neptune by Canadians Rose. Their last album Judgement Day arrived at my house the other day, but I have yet to listen to it.

Rose or Asia?

I believe there are a South Korean version of A Taste of Neptune, unsure about it legal status. Haven't seen the mention of Judgement Day on CD. They also released an earlier album "Hooked on a Rose" in 1973 which I haven't heard. But the kind of music they played on their 1977 albums didn't exist then so it's at least bound to be different.
Mine are vinyl copies.

Both Asia albums are available on a single CD (which is what I have). They were mastered from unplayed vinyls as the original tapes had been lost. Officially released with a great informative booklet. I don't think WhiteWing has been released on CD...
