Well FIFTH ANGEL does have that very slick sound that many US bands had and I can see that as a turn off for some (turned me off of the scene at first) plus they're a little tame too. I personally like their first full-lenght though.

BTW, this is nowhere near as catchy and powerful as the first FIFTH ANGEL. It's a decent melodic metal album, no more, no less.

For the record - and if your read my post thoroughly - I vented my enthusiasm on behalf of 1 song, the opener, which is still think is bloody awesome. I'm neither a die-hard fan nor a specialist of this kind of slick, more "melodic" US Metal, but as a whole this album sounds just as decent as any more common albums of the genre and I can see why fans & collectors of this stuff go crazy for it. Me, I'd rather listen to ROLLERBALL..

I've listened to this many times since downloading it and i have to say it's friggin awesome. Still not as good as the FA s/t but it's one of the greatest obscure US metal albums ever recorded. My only complaint is the last song Midnight Strangler cuts off to early. One of the Thynn Ice band members uploaded the full song to youtube but the sound quality isn't the best.

Have managed to track down the band, still trying to arrange an interview for my next Forgotten Scroll issue. Hope this will happen sooner or later.

The guy who ripped this truly wasn't a cunt! There are about 10 copies made and I bet his copy wasn't that cheap. Forget the Militia's, Paradoxx's and other luxurious 100 or 50 copies pressing ... this is the only "holy grail of US Metal".

The guy who ripped it and the guy who uploaded it on the internet are not the same person, mind you

The only guy I know that he has or had this LP is a swiss collector. And they guy who uploaded it on the internet was greek. There was also a website who was selling CD's or CDR's of this album but when I found it it was unavailable prohably the band wanted to re-release it on CD or something but nothing ever happened yet ...

Basically it was vxn123 who uploaded it first... and even if he could he didn't make a bootleg out of it, he just shared it through his own blog... I had given the link here in this forum awhile back.

Edit: Merged with the old thread

I don't mean a blog, the website this was "for sale" was a commercial one from the US, but as I said, they had already stopped selling CD/CDR's when I found it. The band doesn't seem to be very happy with this recording either, which I cannot understand. Prohably that's why the vinyl was never pressed ...

Thanks for sharing this Prowler. The name Thynn Ice suggested this wouldn't be "the hardest steel known to man" but it still surprised me with its roughness. The band must've trained quite a lot before recording this, especially the vocal department is amazing. Songs like "Life and Death" and "Society's Child" almost sound like unsung classics to me. In overall the album is enjoyable and didn't contain any sugary ballads or anything else dreadful. "Sound of Mind" is a ballad though imo, but they managed to keep the flag high without coating it in sugar and spice (and everything nice). This would make a really good reissue with a production that punches the ears in a good way with an explosive production.
