It is indeed that Caress. Not bad singer but can't compete with best female singer performance ever imho :

big update posted... huge thanks to doomedplanet and rumblefist for their invaluable help. i've also mirrored discs 2 - 12 on dropbox, so if you were having trouble getting the files before, please use these links. the hotshare and mediafire links still carry the old versions, i'll be trying to update these in the future, as well as some more updates. disc 1 is pretty much set in stone as i dont need any more adjustments for this, and has been mirrored on mediafire, so if you are having trouble with the hotshare, use that link. thanks again guys!

Edit: btw, if I'm not wrong your project is sort of a complete discography one. Will you do a "best of" selection at some point, choosing only the tracks that are worth listening to? Maybe we could do a vote kinda thing or something like that unless you want to keep your project personal.

i defintely dont mind people weighing in on what they feel are the best tracks here, but my "best of" might look quite different than someone elses. personally i lean towards the rawer death/thrash stuff, whereas someone else might lean towards some of the more commercial sleaze metal bands

FWIW, my pics for a top 25 would look something like:

blacklace
crystal pride
velle witch
penetrator
malibu barbi
santa
acid
bitch
derketa
nuclear death
y diawled
sentinel beast
znowhite
thin end of the wedge
witchcraft
sacrilege
Дубль-1
hari kari (CA)
carmilla
P.U.S.
white honey
bellzlleb
kiimo kuusniemi band
force
trop feross

... but even narrowing it down to that excludes a lot of great stuff, and im sure many people on here would have a different 25 in mind

Yeah, me too. I haven't had the chance to check those CD's out because my connection was shit these past few days and I wasn't able to download anything. When it gets fixed I'll check 'em and be back with some feedback. From the ones I know of your list, I'd choose Dead over P.U.S. any day.
Btw, about Dead, you can check (and download) a few tracks here http://www.soundclick.com/bands/default ... dID=524787

Well, my "Top" of female fronted bands would be different and we surely have different tastes but at least we aren't fighting among ourselves. :D
There's so much important things going on the world to loose time with endless arguments. it's just a matter of respecting what the others think...it's easy ! :D

More female fronted bands that could be of interest are Dark Age (Ohio), Ariel, Sapient, Purpura, Milena (bulgarian starlet who had quite a few albums since the later 80's but style differs, her early 90's stuff is Heavy Rock so perhaps the 89er LP is Metal too - haven't heard it yet), Metall (they started with a female vocalist and at least 1 studio track exists), Cain (Esp), Arkanus, Hillery Chase ( http://www.motorcityrock.com/bands/hill ... audio.html ), She's So Loud ( http://www.myspace.com/shessoloud ), Lady Luck ....

And the german Stitch "The queen is back" MLP has no female member at all...

I came across the milena stuff a few months back and the album i heard (forget the title - contained the track "ha-ha" i believe) was very new wave/aor. i think it was from 88 or 89?

thanks for the info on those other bands, they seem to be quite obscure

Ariel from Canada I mean...had an LP in 1986. A few songs have backing or semi leadvocals done by a chick.
And Metall had female vocals on the track "Heisse Sprueche" which must be from early 1986 or even 1985. You can see the chick on some of the early pic's too, nice looking.

Milena was of the same kind like Metal Lady from Hungary or Tanja from Czech Rep. The material was written by any producer or musicians (of Metal bands) and she only sung the vocal parts.
There's also another female fronted Metal from Czech Rep, Ina & Ring. But their LP is from 1991 so it won't fit in your timezone, but they prohably started in the late 80's - nice Metal though.
Also don't forget czech Loretta, but I've necer heard any of their demos so their LP was released too late for your project.

I don't know Canadian ARIEL.No i have not seen the early pic of METALL.But great band.

Tanja(CZ) isn't at all metal. Some kind of Hard Rock.METAL LADY are metal and are very well known in this forum.

This track of TANJA is the one i like(Nad Hlavou Leta Rock 'N' Roll/Over The Head Flies R'N'R the meaning)
