Portrait

Post by Lindell »

I did write about my band in the "None shall defy" section but I thought I'd give it a go here as well.

The band's name is Portrait and we've been rehearsing together since january or something this year. It started out just as a one-man-project from my side some years ago but me and David (also in Devil Lee Rot) decided to make a full band out of it. We recorded our first demo during the last weekend of june this year and it will be released as a cassette demo in the next month or so...
We recorded 3 tracks for this demo and one of them is available here:

Comments are more than welcome!

sounds a bit like early Mercyful Fate, at least the vocals.

Yeah, I definitely get some Mercyful Fate-vibes.

Thanks alot! Great to hear that you like the song!

The demo will be released around Halloween or so I think. I will send the recording to the pressing plant on monday, and the cover artwork is almost ready as well.

The overall feeling regarding the first gig is positive I think... I broke a string in the first song though, hehe. But the rest of the gig went fine! It feels really good to have played live at least one time. Now we know that we are "capable" of doing that, and we are hungry for more!

pressing plant
So it's going to be a 'real' CD and not a CDR demo then, or?
How's that HELL-cover coming along btw?

Hehe no, it will be a demo cassette and we will make demo cd-r's ourselves as well. The cassette version will include a cover painting made by our bassist, and lyrics etc. The cd-r version will just be some band pic or something on the front and the song titles on the back. Not that thousands of people will prefer the cassette version, haha... But it feels good to ourselves to release it on cassette and make it something a bit "special".

I really hope to begin rehearsing on some Hell cover soon! Probably "Macbeth". I have tried to learn it on the guitar but it's kinda hard to hear what the HELL they are playing. I think that "Macbeth" probably would be the best choice for a cover, but almost every song they have done would be appropriate.
Maybe we need to do some kind of "What Hell cover should Portrait do?"-poll at The Corroseum forum?

Thank you! What a memorable night in the history of Portrait.
A thread started BY A PERSON OUTSIDE OF THE BAND containing our band name mentioned in the same sentence as the mighty HELL at the CORROSEUM FORUM. I mean, is it possible for a band to reach a higher level than that!? I don't think so.

No, you've pretty much reached your peak now. It's back to that old boring day job with only the occational reunion gig at the local pub every 10 years to look forward too. Hope you enjoyed the ride.
