Stockholm hopefuls TYRANEX

Post by DaN »

For once I didn't have to put on my polite face after checking out a friend's new band. Despite it's beginner rough edges this is really promising stuff! REAL Power Metal by the old definition. (before it suddenly came to mean lightweight symphonic fantasy-speed  )

TYRANEX at myspace

If you're having trouble downloading the mp3's at myspace you can also find them here:

TYRANEX discog at Jamma.se

Ah I will give a listen, but have little hope for any band that has a myspace account. More stuff for the kiddies.

My only critique of MySpace would be that it's for people too lazy to make their own home pages. Hell, even MANILLA ROAD are on MySpace!

For a young band I guess it's a good enough start to promote themselves.

Ah I just can't take myspace because of the people on it. Mostly attention whores and dumbasses. That's not the fans I'd want. :?

Cool. I'll tell Paloma next time I see her. She'll be proud.

The song hunted hunter became my favourite of those three tracks

The fullength "Extermination Has Begun" has been played lately. Started out good, but after 6-7 spins I got a little bored with it. Anyway, the album is ok. Tormentor and the titletrack are my favorites.

This is wild stuff. Linnea sounds like a girl John Gallagher in places. Cheers!

Right... I didn't get a Power Metal vibe from the tracks at all, it sounds like a band simply playing "too fast" and Thrashy riffs, along with the ultra-generic songtitles/lyrics that are pretty much the rule when it comes to any retro-oriented bands. The generic lyrics thing can be fun if it's done well though. It hardly ever is. There's no air of the mystical that I like in the best PM. Afraid I actually hated the vocals :/

"Hopefuls". Haha, someone's been reading Malc's encyclopedia lately?

Well, this thread is 5 years old. Perhaps they've changed their sound since then (I don't know, but for sure this doesn't sound like power metal and I don't think Dan could have mistaken it for such).

Anyway, I like it. Wish I'd have heard of them sooner.
