DaN wrote:A late thanx to jnfernal and snaps for those lists. I had no idea there were so many of them. This really tickles my collector-bone!

I'm thinking maybe I should do a special on this series for the site.
Q1: which of those 7"s would NOT be considered Metal? I know a few of the songs on the comps were more blues/aor/classic rock-oriented.
Q2: Anyone have all of these, either in their collection or digital? If not, maybe we could patch together a complete archive from various people here...
General Bass is something that could be described as sexy jazz rock and one of the worst ive heard in a while

Beatover and Spilberk are not metal too

I had 4 or 5 singles downloaded here and there, but I think it's very, very hard to find them all...

I'll check on sone czech blog/forum but it won't be easy

I wouldn't label Panika as Metal either, and Dux is also more in the Hard Rock vein.

General Bass is the worst soft rock crap! Such a shame, with a name like General Badd one would expect better.

It also seems like a lot of them was released with different covers.

I had a slow day at work today so I started working on a Rockmapa 7"-series page for the website. I'd like to know if anyone feels like helping out? First of all I'm looking for rips & scans of these, Metal or not:

06 - MOTORBAND: Fajnovej den/Je to spas
07 - POHODA ROCK: Muzikantsky blues/Buran
08 - ABRAXAS: Rebel/Ricni proud
09 - TITANIC: Figurina/Bludnej kruh
10 - PANIKA: Bezdez/Vysocany liben
11 - DUX: Narkoman/Jen tak si hvizdnout
12 - TAXI: Sedmnact/Laska, cit a kousek

14 - GENERAL BASS: Zivot na dlani/Kolemjdouci
15 - MOTORBAND: Heavy metal/V risi ptaku

17 - RETEZ: 1415/1415 chast II

21 - MOTORBAND: Mejdan/Zivotni styl
22 - VITACIT: Vzhuru pres ocean/Nerovny boj
23 - SPILBERK: Boure dozniva/Nikdy vic
24 - DUX: Obraz co nemusi mit ram/Posledni zvoneni
25 - BEATOVER: Beethoven/Mam rad velky veci

I also need:

- Info on which singles came out on different pressings/sleeves other than the ones already mentioned, and if these came out before or after the Rockmapa ones.
- Scans of these.
- Any background info on the series itself. How it came to be, who was responsible for it, if it was related to a music org/festival/mag etc..

Pretty sure that the various "Rockmapa" Lp came out after the singles featured on each of the 3 volumes: in a few words the LPs represent a sort of "best of" off the various singles.

I'll try to find more infos, I probably can get something but it's all in czech language, so you should need somebody who can translate it: I just can get the general meaning of the topic and see if it says something interesting or not, but for a detailed translation you need somebody else. In the next days I'll try to give you some useful links as well as some rips or scans if I am able to find my old contacts

Until now I could find the following Ep:

01 - ARAKAIN - Proč + Amadeus Ep 1989
02 - TÖRR - Kult Ohně + Kladivo Na Čarodějnice Ep 1989
03 - KERN - V Sobotu Ne + Exploze Ep 1988
04 - VITACIT - Strach + Poutník Životem Ep 1989
05 - SAPON - Šance Pro Tebe + Dračí Doupě Ep 1989
13 - ARAKAIN - Ku-Klux-Klan + Orion Ep 1989
15 - MOTORBAND - Heavy Metal + V Říši Ptáků Ep 1989
16 - VITACIT - Spadla Klec + Drakula Ep 1989
18 - DETTO - Tanec Ve Španělských Botách + Zlej Tejden Ep 1990
19 - KABÁT - Spadla Klec + Koleda, Koleda Ep 1990
20 - MERLIN - Nevada + Poslední Boj Ep 1990
21 - MOTORBAND - Mejdan + Životní Styl Ep 1990

Some of them have different covers, as they were printed/reprinted on other sub-series by Supraphon (the official Czech Record Label), for example:

-GALAXIE SERIES: for sure there is the Vitacit Ep (Rockmapa 04) and Sapon Ep (Rockmapa 05) as well as other Rock/Heavy bands not featured on the Rockmapa Series (The Barbarella Ep, for example)

-Vitacit (Rockmapa 04) and Arakain (Rockmapa 13) exist also with a different cover, pretty similar in each Ep: white cover with Supraphon logo in pink/purple colour on the upper roght corner. On the Vitacit Ep there's also the indication "Rockmapa 04": this looks pretty strange as it's the only Ep (to my knowledge) that reports the Rockmapa serial number on the cover of a dfferent printing than the Rockmapa series. Usually every different printing off the Rockmapa series do not report such indication. I could see other singles of the Rockmapa series on some auctions and they do not feature such indication if they were reprinted with different covers.

more details later...

Cheers. Yes, I've come across some of those other pressings like the Galaxie-series etc.. I'll make a more specific list of what I'm missing soon..

Of those you mentioned I need copies of these:
15 - MOTORBAND - Heavy Metal + V Říši Ptáků Ep 1989
21 - MOTORBAND - Mejdan + Životní Styl Ep 1990

Thanx in advance!

I'm starting to wonder if this was some sort of single-of-the-month-club deal? 24 7"s released in roughly 2 years - it fits..

I have the Rockmapa-version of the sleeve, but DUX would be great, thanx. I only need the front since the all the back sleeves seem to be blank versions of the front one.
