are you going to buy them? Both of those albums are great, luckily I have them and don't have to compete.

oh yes of course German Oak is a bootleg. It was recorded in 1972 but was never released until a cd came out in the mid 90's. Someone made a bootleg of it right around 2001. I bought it new from a mailorder dealer for $25 in 2001.
There is another German Oak album which isn't as good that is cd only so far (I don't have it but I heard it in 1999)

Are you absolutely sure this is the story behind that record? Because I was convinced it was actually released in 1972.
But does it slay witches?

Not confirmed, but I have a source that says it was recorded 1972, released on LP in the early 80s and then on CD early 90s.tomas wrote:doomedplanet wrote:oh yes of course German Oak is a bootleg. This vinyl version of German Oak on Bunker listed on ebay came out around 2000-2001. I bought it in 2001. Of course it is possible (but unlikely) that there is an older 80's or 90's vinyl version, but if so it was in a microscopic vinyl version not distributed or sold. I've known some hardcore psych collectors over the 15+ years and they didn't have this record.

Found one more source. "Cosmic dreams at play" (Asbjørnsen) published by Borderline productions states:
The book was published in 1996 and is known to have a few errors, but is still relatively reliable. It is listed as "Bunker 1-72".Apparently this limited edition album wasn't released until the early eighties, though it's still hard to find and expensive"

i guess this is not a widespread info otherwise this price would drop heavily i'm sure. regardless if it's a rare boot. there is another (official?) vinyl reissue for around 15-25€ from the later 2000s!doomedplanet wrote:German Oak sold for $767. wild.
my copy is also BU 1-72 as listed in this auction. But I just has a look at the info cut into the dead wax and it says: 20-10-99, so obviously it was pressed October 20 1999. I would bet money on it that this $767 item has the same etching in the dead wax....
According to Martin Popoffs' book "The collector's guide to Heavy Metal: The Seventies" The German Oak album was originally printed in 1972 by the Witch & Warlock lable, printed up in an edition of 213 copies, no covers, 202 of which languished in "Warlocks'" basement for years, none, according to Warlock, ever actually getting sold.
