What albums sound like "Endless Skies"? From the top of my mind I can only think of "From The Fjords" by Legend...Any other godly epic Hard Rock LPs out there?

Perhaps Sorcery - Sinister Soldiers could fit into this category. If seen somewhat broadly. Lester Maddox - Gothic Lore ... Roman usually names Ritual from UK, but dunno if they released anything chunkier ...

I know that Sorcery album, but have to say that I do not find it that special; has some nice moments though...
Need to check Lester Maddox...

I dunno ,I can't see why so many people compare "Endless Skies" to "From The Fjords" they sound nothing alike to me. Don't see the similarity to Sinister Soldiers either ,I must say. Ashbury remind me of a more straight forward version of early Kansas more than anything.

They don`t sound similiar, that`s right...but both play epic Hard Rock and that damn great!

ALKANA - Welcome to my paradise LP (1978) and BEOWULF - Slice of life LP (1980), not exactly like Ashbury but are worth checking out

Epic Hard Rock, one of my favorite music styles :D
I love "The Warning" track by Ashbury, godly!

I always search for comparable bands, but there aren't that many.
Here are some recommendations, none of them sound really similar but they are relatively close. On a mixed tape these would fit together just fine:

Saracen - Heroes Saints and Fools LP
Tredegar - Same LP
Artok - Same 12" (from Canada)
Barnabas (some tracks are KILLER, some are boring. Female vox, xian band)
Aragon - Don't bring the Rain LP (Aussie band, awesome - a must!)
Cassle - Midnight Fantasy 12"
Omega - The Prophet LP (darker and eerie, more metal)
Shelder - God of Vikings LP
as Noisenik said:
Ritual(UK)-Valley of the Kings CD (some eastern influences, more metal)
The Scrubs (UK) - Battle 7"
Asgard - Imago Mundi/Götterdämmerung/Arkana (CULT BAND!)
Zephyr - Last Dawn LP (the epic tracks)
Presence - The Shadowing (Ita)
Northwinds (Fra) on BlackWidow
Crystal Phoenix (Ita)
and a recent band:
Ten - Spellbound CD (listen to "We rule the night" and "Red", classics!)

I myself need to check out more of the BlackWidow releases, I am sure there's some more treasures waiting to be found.

I also have highest interest in hearing MONARCH - AS YOUR KINGDOM FALLS LP! Coverart looks fantastic, said to sound like LEGEND, but I never heard it nor do I know anyone who has this LP.

Great topic! I absolutely love Ashbury. Fantastic album.

I'd add to that list:

Winterhawk - Revival and There And Back Again
Full Moon (US) - State Of The Artist CD
Dust - s/t and Hard Attack
Darkstarr - s/t
Spike! - Price Of Pleasure (not epic, but still killer)
Survivor - All Your Pretty Moves

Cassle! YES! Great album, definitely a must to hear!

I have Artok, not bad but not as good as i expected it.

i have to add CROWHAVEN's "Emotional Adjustment" LP: Some fillers, some real killers in there, sadly one of the rarest epic hard rock albums ever...

Has anyone managed to hear MONARCH's LP yet???

Edit:Shit, i almost forgot...ASIA's "Armed to the teeth"...amazing band!

I made this post, because I knew that your list will be big :D

I'm intrigued by the Beowulf album. I see it was reissued on CD by Metal Legion Records. Does anyone know if this is a bootleg or official reissue?

Also, another band to consider is Wizard. The one that released a self-titled album in 1979 on Future Track records.

Just today I received a few xian records I didnt know, one fits right in here:

ARIEL - SAME LP

(nice cover, gods army rides riding into battle, haha. From the lyrics: "The Lord JEsus Christ in righteousness He comes to make war...")
Musically great epic Heavy Rock, Omen is pleasently surprised 8)

Indeed ! The whole record sounds like JETHRO TULL without the flute !!!
You should check out some newer stuff from JETHRO TULL ! For example "Rock Island" from 1989 ! It still has the flute, but it's less complexe than the 70ies stuff.
