Digital Metal Radio Stations

Post by bigfootkit »

A friend of mine recently put me on to a site which collates & streams digital radio stations from all around the world & i've been enjoying messing around with it & have found a few good stations which serve up Corroseum friendly fare.
Thought i'd pass on the links & if folks do their own investigating & turn up any more worthwhile stations they could add those links to the ones i'm providing. Happy listening!

These three seem pretty kick ass, esp. the Texas' one, but q104 may get played more these days.

Further investigation will follow.

The Texas station has been consistently good every time i've checked it out, definitely the most corroseum friendly statio i've found so far. Them good ole boys know their Metal.
I've noticed across the board that the playlists on most 'rock' stations seem to become heavier at certain times, which i assume is later at night in the various locales, so even some of the more commercial sounding Hard/Classic Rock stations that you'd be tempted to dismiss may still serve up the good stuff at certain times.

Interesting idea.

I gave all three stations a quick listen for evaluation purposes and all of them were playing modern rock/"nu-metal" when I tried listening. Disappointing as I have never come across a single modern radio station, even among the tiny independent ones that play exclusively obscure 80's content. It's a shame because I often travel for work and am unable to sit at a desk with my laptop and earphones on so a website that I can quietly listen to over the PC speakers in the background would be appreciated.

The closest I have come is Metal Shop and they only play the more mainstream stuff with a lot of Glam thrown in and the odd Exciter/Fates Warning/Wargasm level of niche bands from time to time.

I'd like to recommend a weekly radio show called iScReAm with Christine coming from Greece:

(this link leads to Metalzone Radio, a greek station playing Metal 24/7)

The show starts every sunday on 9pm CET and features new and old underground Metal.
Here's a link abouth which songs have already been played in the last four years, so get a feeling:

You can also find all past shows (plust tracklist) here:

Christine (the host) even uploaded (mainly the older) songs on her youtube chanel:

A lot of Corroseum-friendly, totall unkown stuff....so maybe you want to check it out.
