Seems silly to pit these two albums against each other, especially considering Sean Harris' vocal capability against Jess Cox's hurgh-ner-yeahs. I'm reminded of a late '90s Usenet post advertising a crappy "music site" which was featuring a "BATTLE OF THE BANDS: The Beatles vs. REO Speedwagon".

Lightning to the Nations beats Wild Cat on most counts. The latter is a very energetic and charming piece of NWOBHM but LTTN has inventive riffs, great vocals, melodies which are catchy while not too obvious...one of the best albums in the whole movement.

And I love the UFO-isms as well.

"Wild Cat" anyday..... love it since I heard it back in 80 or so...so RAW and heavy... Jess Cox vocals are so abrasive and the riffs were totally exffective.....

Revisited both. Still going with 'Wild Cat'. Love the atmosphere and vitality of the songs more.

Diamond Head. No questions asked. If the poll was about Lightning and say Spellbound, the Angel Witch debut or even A Time Of Changes I would probably have to think about it twice. Actually - if Blitzkrieg was a choice if would get my vote. But from the two choices presented Diamond Head is a no-brainer.

I prefer the Wild Cats' vocals over the ones in LTTN. Both have their crown jewel songs but Wild Cats is my favorite.

Don't think I've ever heard anyone express this opinion before.

I voted for "Wild Cat".....

Just because it is more HEADBANGER fun in my opinion....I do love the intellectual bent of Diamond Head's "Lightning to the Nations", but if you add Tygers of Pan Tangs aggression with Diamond Heads RIFFS, you can see the beginning of Metallica original sound come into focus, with help from Black Sabbath, Motorhead, Tank...and tons of others.

I love "Wild Cat", but this is rather unoriginal boogie rock nwobhm of the early kind!
LttN is an unique record and sounds way ahead for its time for me ...one of my favorites!

Tough choice, but Wild Cat won here. It's catchiness is unavoidable.

This summed it up! Wild Cat is still a classic record, though.
