Bands that has made only ONE really good album

Post by J.K. »

I noticed that some bands only make one real good album. Some of them became legendary even if they do crap during 20 years after putting out their gem.

For me:

EXODUS (only the first LP is really killer)

GUNS'N'ROSES (again the first LP is the best and only must have)

BLESSED DEATH (First album)

ATTACKER (Battle's, which is their first if I remember well)

RATT (Out of The Cellar)

SAVAGE GRACE (Their first LP)

DEATH ANGEL (Their first LP)

MORTAL SIN (first LP)

ONSLAUGHT (Power From Hell, which again is their first I think)

QUIET RIOT - Metal Health

DIAMOND HEAD - The White Album

That's all for now, give your contributions and opinion.

I think you are wrong about Attacker, Savage Grace and Onslaught in particular.

Ratt, G 'n' R and Quiet Riot? Wrong subforum.

Second Savage Grace is killer, The Force by Onslaught has some great tracks, 2nd Attacker is 10x better than the first one and their last albums aren't bad at all.

My first choice for this thread would be Flotsam and Jetsam, Doomsday slays from start to finsh, after that they just got worse with each album.

Completely right about Flotsam & Jetsam. As for Onslaught, well I personally think "The Force" is their magnum opus. Killer Thrash from start to end. I have a soft spot for "In Search of Sanity" too. Also, "Borrowed Time" by Diamond Head is nothing short of a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned!!

I'm trying to think of some suggestions but it's proving difficult.

Add:

DEMOLITION HAMMER (Tortured Existence)

Maybe ARMORED SAINT (March of The Saint) but I don't know all their album.

That's possibly the worst list that I've ever seen.

Holocaust's later techy/thrashy work is really good.

I wouldn't really call it Thrash, more like Progressive Metal

Either way, I think it's interesting.

First I don't expect the same thing when I listen a NWOBHM band and an american Hard Rock band. Then the first GnR is original, inspired and not cheap, which is not the case of the second Demon, which is weak compared to other albums of the genre/period.

Agree with F&J, but the second ATTACKER 10 times better? Okay, interesting, not my favorite band, but i always thought that the first one is a bit better.

I would also pick:

TESTAMENT - The Legacy
SIREN - No Place Like Home

and a controversial one, hehe

JAG PANZER - Ample Destruction

"Practice what you preach" is not bad at all, but with more catchy songs.
So I would not consider TESTAMENT as an "only one good record" band.

Now you've gotten me all confused. Where's the dictator of The Corroseum? Save us from the bigots* and intruders!

*ok, so this may confuse further...
