I've been working on a metal version of the punk/hc compilation that was done in the mid 00s, and this is the first version that i'm comfortable with making public. currently its about 12 full CDs and 226 bands, but there is a lot of room to expand - about 40 or so bands that i havent been able to acquire yet... any information on these or general feedback is appreciated. enjoy!

Yeah, looks great, nice coverart by the way. Many names i'm not familiar with, especially on disc 7-12.

nice & ambitious.

if you need that 97 Underground: The Beast From The East… Vol. 1 I have an extra copy i could sell, make me an offer via pm, I have no time at the moment to figure a price.

if you need the Volkana track from the split lp I'm sure I could rip it

Wow, impressive piece of work! Here is one of the tracks you were looking for:
[19] Placeholder until I locate the 97 Underground: The Beast From The East… Vol. 1 compilation, 1987 track.

I have some more stuff you may want to include as well. I am wondering, is there any logic to the order of the tracks, or which tracks are on which CD?

thanks for the feedback and the rip Keir! a book is a bit beyond what i have in mind for now - i was thinking of doing an annotated discography zine, though maybe i'll revisit it in a few years and start putting together leads for interviews and whatnot
I am wondering, is there any logic to the order of the tracks, or which tracks are on which CD?
no logical order, but put together for flow and a diverse listening experience. i personally tried to select what i felt is the band's best track (and many times went back and forth quite a bit), and tried to place each one where it would logically sound good bookended by the other tracks. leadoff and closing tracks on each disc i made to be special highlights, but for the most part, i tried to break up the discs so they are as varied as possible, both in terms of styles and quality. i didnt want to have long chunks of substandard sleaze metal on any particular disc, for instance

Great job! What a really complete 80's female fronted metal compilation!!! And... what a beginning! Blacklace (USA) - "Call of the Wild", Unlaced LP, 1984

I know two bands that could be suitable for your compilation:
Blizard (Jpn)

Image (USA)

I love "Image - Illusion" and "Blizard - Mama" songs!

Congratulations for such an excellent compilation!

thanks! is that blizard record female fronted? m-a credits 'Seijirou Shimomura' which isn't a female name (or at least i dont think it is) and the live footage i've seen of them has been with a male singer. i'll add image to the list of stuff to check out - that one seems quite rare!

yes, the artwork is from baba yaga! i agree, a very cool illustration
