Your top 5 this week
Blaspheme? Need that one!
As for my list (=what Hellion just delivered), I decided to rate them:
1. Overlord - Back into the Dragons Lair
Definitely one of the best bands I've heard in the last few years. Love that they kept their somewhat sludgy sound to the end (1993) - I got a Judas Priest '76-78 meets Pentagram vibe from them and it doesn't get better than that.
2. Adramelch - Irae Melanox - deluxe edition
Sob, sob... simply beautiful! Of course even better than the above, but heard before.
Note: I thought I recognized those Kerrang-scans in the booklet - they were rewarded with a signed copy of Broken History and the shirt I am wearing right now a few years back...
3. Slough Feg - Animal Spirits
Not an instant hit this time, bar the lovely Tactical Air-raid. Time will tell...
4. Anvil Chorus - The Kiling Sun
Really great stuff mixed with less so. Warm sound = GJ likes
5. Atlantean Kodex - The Golden Bough
What's with the hype? I can tell they seem to be doing most things right on the surface, but still fail to deliver emotionally. Guess my expectations were too high, they're good though no doubt about that. More spins needed.
