TANTRUM - 'Trenton City Murders' EP Lyrics

Post by daniel »

There were no inserts with the vinyls (at least that I know of) but it doesn't hurt asking whether someone might have got them by other means, or have worked them out. There are too many bits I just can't hear clearly enough throughout. Thanks.

I guess the best way to get some feedback is that you write down what you've deciphered so far, post it, and let us fill in the blanks.

Right you are.

Well I start with the most important one; Knights of Fayaahh:

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Following dreams, of the forbidden city
Beast within confronts the Knights of Fire
Cast your dreams away, yeah really quite a way (DUH???)
You've travelled through the walls of ???

Enter the door of the forbidden city
Pass through the gates of the realms of time
Break through the ancient warlord ???
To confront the Knights of ? and Fire(?)

Save me I'm falling
Save me I'm falling down

It's an oddly strange day, in the forbidden city
Like years awakened (?) by the Knights of Fire
The way to return, you really have to stand(???)
You forged again your future's cage ? (???)

Enter the door...
Are you the tyrant, who cast them to the sea?
One day you'll be among the dead.

Seems to me:
"Break through the ancient warlord river"

Yeah thanks, it could be.

Problem is with some of the missing bits I can't make any sense at all of what he's singing, it sounds like nonsense. Even slowed the vinyl down to 33rpm but it didn't help hah.

You bet!

"To confront the Knights of ? and Fire(?) "

Seems like:
"To confront the Knights of Light(Time?) and Fire"

Yeah I thought of writing 'Time', which also seems more fitting somehow... If you hear that too maybe we're onto something haha.

This thread should be turned into the 'Rock Dream Records Lyrics' thread haha, cos I want the Heathen's Rage EP lyrics too, especially 'Knights of Steel', only hear a few words here and there.

I'm kind of surprised more people aren't interested in this. The TANTRUM EP is one of the BEST, all the tracks are good, especially 'Knights of Fire' and 'Shot For Shot'. 'Knights of Fire' goes beyond mere metal, into some realm of mystic metal, sheer perfection ...into dreams... Musically it is far better than say WYZARD, or STREET CHILD, and it would probably be my favourite US Metal release ever if it had been blessed with amazing artwork, which it so rightfully would deserve!

Actually, this is an interesting "game" and exercise!... But I'm stuck in the same places you are..

Another tidbit:

"Like years awakened (?) by the Knights of Fire"

The initial part could also be:
"Light-years away..."
Although I cannot make out the rest of it!

I have to go home now, but I'll have my two friends coming over listen as well, before we get too drunk...

Have a good night!

I don't know if it's up on any blogs or whatever... When I get a chance I'd like to transfer it to USB, my dad, who lives 80km away just bought one of those USB turntables so he could transfer some of his old vinyls, and some of my stuff... I don't know when I'll get the chance to though.

I don't see how any lover of metal could NOT like TANTRUM, the mid-section of 'Shot For Shot', the entire 'Knights of Fire', this is pure magic! There are no 'quirks' to forgive, no bad production, incompetent vocalists (as an example, I think the Wyzard EP, which I do not own, has some real magic to it, and good songs, but the vocalist...he has charm, but also comes close to ruining some moments), it's just amazing stuff.

Ok slight update, one more line worked out:

Following dreams, of the forbidden city
Beast within confronts the Knights of Fire
Cast your dreams away, you're really wide awake
You've travelled through the walls of cage(d)???

Enter the door of the forbidden city
Pass through the gates of the realms of time
Break through the ancient warlord (river)???
To confront the Knights of Time(?) and Fire

Save me I'm falling
Save me I'm falling down

It's an oddly strange day, in the forbidden city
Like years awakened +?(?) by the Knights of Fire
The way to return, you really have to stand(???)
You forged again your future's cage +? (???)

Enter the door...
Are you the tyrant, who cast them to the sea?
One day you'll be among the dead.

Actually it sounds more like 'Light and Fire' than 'Time and Fire'.

Some parts of the lyrics are a bit messy indeed and not understandable. Tantrum was ok i guess but not really that special (imo that is).

edit: wheni say "a bit messy" i refer to the articulation.............
