Influental bands for the old?Well ACCEPT,SLAYER,MERCYFUL FATE are really good inluences for me and for the old metal bands.

i totally agree here....if you read interviews, more than 50% of thrash bands in the world name Slayer as their biggest influence...mercyful fate is my personal favorite, there would be not such extreme satanic imagery without them and the KING

The term "Heavy Metal" was first used by Led Zeppelin in a interview when they were questioned how to categorize their sound.

Judas Priest and Black Sabbath seconded by Ted Nugent!

Can't imagine bands like Anvil, The Rods or Riot developing their agressive yet hard rocking sound in the late seventies/early eighties without first studying the Nuge.
