doG knows I totally DETEST the contrieved concept of "ballads"(scmallads) on Heavy Metal albums, but against all sense & logic there are indeed a few huffin' great ones to be found within the Russki Hevi Flora & Fauna. To prove my point:

GIBEL BOGOV[TWILIGHT OF THE GODS] - Ispovedy

...and:

TYAZHOLVYJ DEN' - Dal' Velikaya

I kept wondering how a thread on ballads could have reached 13 pages on the Corroseum, but glancing over the thread and seeing what some people consider to be a ballad I guess I understand.

Well, here's my contribution:

Right you are, any song that won't ruin the good reputation of the ballad genre will do.

Iron Maiden - Wasting Love
King Diamond - So Sad
Lääz Rockit - The Omen
Manilla Road - Cage of Mirrors, Tree of Life
Metal Church - Watch the Children Pray
Overkill - The Years of Decay, Soulitude
Skid Row - I Remember You
Great list, but there is no way "Cage of Mirrors" is a ballad. That is one of the heaviest slabs of epic metal known to mankind.

I heard before hearing the album in the single Christmass Time / Lies In Your Eyes, and it seemed a good ballad No metal except for the chorus, I like that kind of melancholic ballads
