Metal Inquisitor is the kind of band that does these "homages" ever so often though. Just listen to the middle part of Daze of Avalon and compare it to Losfer Words.

One that came to my mind right now:

TOKYO BLADE - Night of the blade opening riff / PURGATORY (OHIO) - Deep into the red opening riff
Good against Evil, Evil sure to win

The music of these two songs is almost identical

Phantom Lord - I'm in HEAT
Pentagram - Drive me to the grave (the fast version on one of the recent LPs)

the opening riff in BLEAK HOUSE- Rainbow Warrior
the second riff in METALLICA- sanitarium

Which is no suprise, since the only thing James and Lars did before starting the band was to hang out and listen to NWOBHM singles.

Heres a weird one, and a solo, bit of worship I think... Killer bands anyway

Pokolgép - Éjféli Harang (Midnight Bell) off Pokoli Színjáték around 2:52
Dokken - Unchain the Night also around the same time 2:59

Speaking of which what's the Pokolgép song with the almost WIld Child intro?

Ok this isn't a case of similar riffs, but check the rather strange lyrical similarities between VAVEL's 'Another Chance' and PINK FLOYD's(!) 'The Gnome':

VAVEL:
"I want to tell you a story
About a little land if I can
A land called Greece
And it's people
who stay in their places
Eating or sleeping
and drinking their wine

It wore a scarlet tunic
And it looked quite blue
It had a great adventure
In the middle of the world
with bad friend's
Winning or losing
and waiting for a time

CHORUS

And then one day hurray
Another chance for Greece
to say hurray
Another leader came
the land to save
Another leader to fuck her
and get away"

PINK FLOYD:
"I want to tell you a story
About a little man If I can.
A gnome named Grimble Crumble.
And little gnomes stay in their homes.
Eating, sleeping, drinking their wine.

He wore a scarlet tunic,
A blue green hood,
It looked quite good.
He had a big adventure
Amidst the grass
Fresh air at last.
Wining, dining, biding his time.
And then one day - hooray!
Another way for gnomes to say..."

Just in general I think VAVEL's lyrics are abysmal, it was just on Thursday me and my friend were almost falling about laughing while reading them...
Are you the tyrant, who cast them to the sea?
One day you'll be among the dead.
