Opening riff of SALEM's (UK) Fool's gold very heavily influenced by BLACK SABBATH's Sabbath bloody Sabbath. And no, it's neither glorious nor a top-10 nwobhm track, sorry to say that, Dan.

That's crazy-talk!
The riff is quite similar, but it's a pretty generic/simple one to begin with and the pace is different. Lots of "clones" of this one out there I'd say...

Not saying that it's a rip-off but I'm thinking shouldn't a top-10 nwobhm track have a bit more original riffing?
I just finished the 1st CD, the 'keeper' trilogy is by far the best until now.

To continue with the SALEM similarities: the vocal lines of Trilogy part II - The Revenge very similar to the ones of BLACK SABBATH's Children of the sea.

Ha ha... Just found a really shameful "riff-off": the lead riff to ATLAIN's "The Sinner" is MANOWAR's "Gloves Of Metal" speeded up.

I dont know if it has been posted but King diamond reused a solo backing riff from Come to the sabbath as the main riff in No presents for x-mas.

Another Truffle track 'God of War', also has similarities with Virtue's 'High Treason'

The chorus of 'God of War' isn't a rip-off or anything like that, it just brings to mind the Messiah-'Final Warning' LP.

You are right, very obvious, but this theme from the Carpenter movie is just too good for not beeing used in a metal song.

BLACK SABBATH 'Fairies Wear Boots' the lead melody at 5:43 .:. METALLICA 'For Whom The Bell Tolls' lead melody at 1:21... Has this been mentioned before? Or am I just getting old? ;) Just dawned on me today hah.

Never noticed that but you're spot on. The Pentagram - Omen connection seems to be more accidental. At least I would think so.
