Haven't had a chance to check out the cleveland tracks yet; hopefully I'll have some time this weekend.
The manimals tracks were decent; the newer ones are alot slower than the EP tracks, but still fairly catchy.

Even the bootleg Avatar copies will sometimes bring around $50

All three are catchy in a goofy way. My old roommate and I would sometimes play this really loud after a night out drinking and tick off the neighbors. Our other popular musical choices for doing this were Venom's 'in league with satan' and NWA's 'straight outta compton'... it turns out that folks i...

New question for everyone: I've heard there are bootleg copies of the 'yellow goat' Bathory album, but never heard how they're discernable from the real thing. Does anyone know for sure if there are boots, and if so, how to spot them?

Ah, so it was the same Metropolis copy?! Amazing. Yeah, John Allinson's book was missing tons of stuff, and he mistakenly thought no one would be interested in biographical information about the bands. His main interests seemed to be nwobhm, doom, and swamp/delta blues music. It was far from complet...

No, I just talked with him. He was selling some stuff on ebay, including a copy of the Metropolis 7", but not a copy of the yellow Avatar. I had seen a copy of Avatar on yellow vinyl about 6 months earlier and I was very curious about whether it was legit or a boot. I had talked to a few dealer...

Interesting. Killdrums told me that 20 copies were made (personal communication, 1999). Even if I assume that every copy i've ever seen is indeed a different one (and that's probably a bad assumption), that would only account for 6, maybe 7 tops. Even if 20 were made instead of 10, I rather doubt th...

Thanks for the info John, i appreciate you sharing your knowledge. I realize these are incredibly rare items, so there's never going to be much sale data to work with. Do you have a feel for how many of the yellow Avatars are in collectors' hands? I used to know who owned about 5 of them, but some h...

JQ- yeah, i got a T-shirt mde w/ that little alien on it :) If I were ever gonna splurge on an item just to get the picture sleeve, it would be that one! Lady of the Night is good, but the other two songs are so-so IMO 100 euros for TG is a reasonable price. Every copy i've seen in recent years has ...

John- are the prices Jim got for Zaxas, Metropolis, and Messiah reasonable, insane, or in-between? I knowa few folks around here were thinking Zaxas might sell for $600-800, which was obviously off. I'm just curious whether these prices are 'typical' for these items or if they are selling significan...

Knell- I've heard a few songs from 'I' and thought they were good, straight-up trad metal. The songs might be posted in Poisonoise. I don't know how much the album is worth; there's a recent cd reissue of I+II, but 2 songs on the original 'I' LP aren't on the cd reissue (see the Metal Archives entry...
