Re: Heavy Metal as a Lifestyle.

Really the furthest I go with political badges or anything is I have an anti-communist pin on my leather jacket. I think it offends the right kind of people. I wouldn't have thought that you'd run into many Communists in Kentucky. If I was in a Metal show in Kentucky, I'd be way more worried about ...

Re: What are your issues with "NWOTHM"?

I think it's almost impossible not to be derivative to some degree anymore (and not just in Metal), so it's mostly down to writing good tracks and not following a certain pattern to closely, like those bands coming out nowadays that aren't content with playing very within a certain style but they ju...

Showing up like this would automatically turn you into a legend at any Metal Fest

Only DaN's Michael Jackson jacket could eclipse you.

Re: Heavy Metal from Argentina

It should also be noted that this compilation is remarkable for including bands from many different regions of the country rather than the Buenos Aires centric approach 99% of the cultural scene tends to have here (and that would also explain why so many of these bands never got to release anything ...

Re: New modern bands of today´s Crossover Thrash/Punk like Accused, Crumbsuckers, ST, DRI, Cro-mags, Agnostic Front, Ex

Well, I can't really say about current bands but if we understand "modern" as bands that came out in the past 20 years or so, I have really enjoyed the following: Funerot, specially Invasion From The Death Dimension which I would say is in my top 10 (maybe even top 5) Thrash albums of this...

Re: Heavy Metal as a Lifestyle.

That's the thing. We all have had different experiences, and they're all "true" as long as they're honest. I didn't have an older brother/friend to get me into Metal. I just had to find my way into it and it meant getting into stuff like The Prodigy when I was 9 (I was born in 87), liking ...

Re: Heavy Metal as a Lifestyle.

For starters, excuse me if this belongs in an off-topic sub-forum. ... With you being a younger guy, I can absolutely understand where you're coming from. I think we've all been what you've been through when we were younger and I think it is a necessary stage to go through to develop your own taste...

Well, for what it's worth the review for the Burn single reminded me of Benny Harvey, RIP

I don't know if this was mentioned but in one of my discogs explorations I found this one: https://i.discogs.com/6VscRjyq4677kA4OJY93q6qSPnOKRpjTXw3NfMqxPSk/rs:fit/g:sm/q:90/h:600/w:587/czM6Ly9kaXNjb2dz/LWRhdGFiYXNlLWlt/YWdlcy9SLTc3MzY3/OTMtMTYxMzA3OTE0/Ni04NzY0LmpwZWc.jpeg https://www.discogs.com/e...

Re: "Library-Metal"? (Slugs 1988 movie band playing at the party)

On a tangent here, but I always felt that Messiah's "Final Warning" kinda sounds like "stock metal". Don't get me wrong, I love that album but to me it feels as if it came from a movie where a fake Metal band had to play so some academically trained composer in his 40s sat down w...

Re: Heavy Metal from Argentina

I understand you, as a brazilian, I don't like most of the brazilian scene, since I don't like the extreme stuff! But I don't underappreciate them, in fact I have a big respect for those bands and the importance they had in the 80s! Vulcano, Mystifier, Holocausto, etc..always nice to see them live!...

Re: Heavy Metal from Argentina

This situation is more or less what I expected. I'm just hoping & praying that some day, some dealer will realize that there's a way to really make some money out of these records: BY ACTUALLY SELLING THEM. Edit: your thoughts on Hellion btw? I've only heard it a couple of times in my life, to ...

Re: Heavy Metal from Argentina

I'm not a collector so I don't know much about it but I've noticed a tendency to overprice anything of our own stuff. If you go to any sort of record market, all vinyl there is sold as if it were a collection piece regardless of how common it might be so anything slightly rare just shoots off. Also,...

Re: Old Spanish metal

Has the '85 self-titled Goliath album come up yet? Good solid meat 'n' potatoes HM. The 2012 CD edition adds a 6 song 1984 demo as bonus tracks. I think a couple of the members were later in Nu (with the wiggly thing over the letter 'u'). https://www.discogs.com/master/691600-Goliath-Goliath Over t...
