SACRED BLADE rules, one of the better Canadian bands. Definite CAPTAIN BEYOND influence on those guys (even if they never quite reach the face-pounding metallic heaviness CAPTAIN BEYOND does in "Raging River of Fear"). The demotapes and other recordings (both '80s and '90s) fucking rule......

I would mentione these: -All Venom records (certainly no NWOBHM sounding here. They were born in that period, but certainly do not sound like the bands, so, in my opinion, they cant be labelled NWOBHM) Have to say, NWoBHM doesn't really have a set sound (my opinion), it's just a movement. There was...

You are right, the vocals have a very "basement"/"back-street" metal band feel on top of the accent. While the band is catchy like TRESPASS they certainly can't compete in the vocal department. Nevertheless it works (in my opinion), especially on stuff like "Flying High"...

thats a cool one. I like "Etherealize" and the split flexi with JURASSIC JADE a bit more but the lp is still good.

A live album with old gigs came out a while ago, featuring some otherwise unreleased tracks I think.

Uhhh too many (thank hell), it's just that they seem to be very few because they are vastly outnumbered by "modern metal" acts.

SABBAT, THE LORD WEIRD SLOUGH FEG, and so on come to mind.

Sorry for going out on a "kvlt blakk metl"-limb here, but I honestly think MAYHEM's classic live in Leipzig is one of the most awesome Thrash stuff ever recorded, utterly superior to any of their studio recordings. Firstly, that's not a "kvlt blakk metl" statement anymore - I th...

Have you tried FORTRESS of Azra? Horrible man, just horrible. Nope. I'll try to seek them out then :D Does anybody know FUNERAL of Azra? Opinions? Also both MITHRANDIR releases are among my awful favorites. Really BAD metal with terrible vocals and a pretty fucked up production. What else it needs ...

Godawful Metal

What are some of the worst metal records you've ever heard? I don't mean records that are called metal but are nu-metal bullshit, or fuzz black metal, or your brother's PANTERRIBLE CDs. I mean bands that are, in every conceivable, stylistic way and musical detail, real heavy metal... and yet for wha...

Shakespeare

The playwright's great, but anybody know all of what was released (demos, rehearsals, live recordings, compilation tracks?) by this Swedish doom outfit? Their single on PANG! records gives off cool graveyard vibes. Slow and 'eavy! Well... "well-paced" and 'eavy. (btw: If another record com...

HEAVY METAL has many cheese songs on it. There are, however, some brilliant and essential metal bands on it (BLUE OYSTER CULT, BLACK SABBATH). Their songs, while great, are available on their albums however... Motorhead appears on the soundtrack of "The Sponge BOB Squarepants" movie !!! Ye...
