Who in this forum couldn't love that Tarot cover?
Btw, I just can't help it and I have to point out that the Outburst review says "Weather" instead of "Whether" in the last line referring to the 7".

Re: Rare Finnish singles
I get what you mean and I wish I could just take the sound as part of a conceptual piece like you. Specially since, as I've said, the songs themselves aren't bad at all, and definitely not trying to ape what they did in the past without jumping any trends either. The keyboards are as good as in the ...

Re: Rare Finnish singles
The main thing I take from that review is that you love "Core Values". I tried to listen to it a couple of times, and while the songs themselves aren't bad I just couldn't get past the production that makes it sound like a soundtrack for an early 00s FPS (and not one of the good ones).

Re: Best Albums Of '80
One of my favorite albums for that year for sure, and somewhere on the top echelon of all time Heavy Metal favorites too. I'd describe it as "proto Mercyful Fate", since it has the same ability of taking classic Hard Rock and Heavy Metal riffs and somehow turn them into something utterly d...

Re: The Corroseum bands
Sorry Cochino, i missed your reply until after i'd posted mine. Your 'mediocre reunion LP' idea sounds like a plan!  We had 60+ songs written by the time we quit so it'll be difficult to decide which ones to give a nu-metal makeover to. :D Somehow i doubt anyone's gonna be waving record ...

Re: The Corroseum bands
Cochino, what have you done? I would re-upload the full EP, but the CD drive on my PC is currently kaput so i can't rip the disc. I do have 2 songs on my HD, so that'll need to suffice for now. I just checked and I still got the mp3s on my HD. I can upload them if you're ok with it. It's your...

Okay Cochino, you asked for it. Here's my band's 4 song EP from 2004, the finest Scottish Heavy Metal/Hard Rock/Punk/Psychedelia/Stoner/Prog Rock you'll ever hear. Just came across this thread when searching for something else and I just wanted to tell Bigfootkit that all these years later, I read ...

Re: "Library-Metal"? (Slugs 1988 movie band playing at the party)
Yeah, this type of stuff is not really a hotbed for heavy stuff. I definitely never came across anything remotely hard or heavy at all, but it's great for moody and atmospheric pieces (since that's what they are by default anyway), but I've mostly checked stuff from the 60s and 70s. I imagine that i...

Re: Slugs 1988 movie band playing at the party
Fans of electronic music seem to be more familiar with this genre, Well, there's lots of vintage electronica to be found since it was cheaper to make library music with snyths than having a full band/orchestra. That being said, as bigfootkit pointed out, there's also a lot of funky and jazzy stuff ...

Re: Slugs 1988 movie band playing at the party
The "token generic punk track" of the album  Library music is a WIERD phenomenon... Delving into library music can be quite a nice tide. Thanks to George Romero's use of it on Dawn of the Dead I've went through a library music rabbit hole a few years ago and it was pretty fun. It's c...

Just a quick thank you because Destroyer's "The Grave" is without a doubt gonna be among the top 10 songs of the year for me.

Re: Belgian GOOD Metal :)
That 4th track on X-Creta album sounds like an unreleased Tormentor (Hun) song. But the majority of the LP still more on hardcore side IMO. Well, I would say that plenty of extreme metal of that time, and certainly lots of bands of the Brazilian scene, had some strong Hardcore Punk elements to thei...

Re: Belgian GOOD Metal :)
I've always liked the X-Creta LP. Reminds me of 80s extreme Brazilian stuff (but apparently that's still not "metal enough" for the guys over at M-A), with enough catchy riffs spread around to keep me going back to it from time to time.

Re: Late 70s/early 80s influenced NWOTHM
I think labels are extremely useful and helpful, specially on these days where there's so much stuff out there you need as much help as you can in order to decide what you're gonna spend your time and money on. You can't compare how it is now than in the 70s or early 80s, where you only had a handfu...

Re: The new BLACK HOLE album ("Evil In The Dark")
Nice to know I'm not alone. I've read so many reviews treating it as if it were proper music (and quite a few even being positive about it) that I thought I was losing my mind.
