Re: RUNNING WILD: Not-So Rapid Forays Into Their Catalog

I for one wouldn’t count the first two albums as part of such a streak. They’re good enough in their own right, but don’t stand out enough compared to all the other German metal bands of the era. There is not one song on Branded and Exiled that’s good enough to be on Black Hand Inn or Pile of Skull...

Re: TEXAS METAL OUTLAWS

Saw this advertised recently and the concept left me scratching my head. So musicians from a bunch of different groups, most-all of which are underground cult acts from the 80s, are now recording new material. Amiright? I guess that's cool. Kinda. Maybe. It implies there are folks out there thinkin...

Re: Now Playing Thread

Recently (re-)discovered the genius of CRUSH as well. Very charming album, and totally out of its time in a good way.

Right now: Second IMMORTAL AVENGER EP.

VIXIT - El poder del metal

Looking for a rip of VIXIT's El Poder del Metal - all links I've found seem to be out of order.

Re: TEXAS METAL OUTLAWS

From what I can gather these are two separate but perhaps related projects. Seems to be some member overlap though.

Will have to agree with this old post. Perhaps OMEN would suffice as a reference here as well? Especially on their second EP. Apparently it's an old member of ALABAMA THUNDERPUSSY (!) who sings on that one, and - believe it or not - he does a perfectly fine rendition of JD Kimball.

TEXAS METAL OUTLAWS

Any opinions on this recent collaboration-project?

Very cool project with some killer songs and performances. It must have required quite some patience and time to get all those people together.

Re: Now Playing Thread

Show switching to the first KRAKEN LP. This record is just glowing with energy. Is there anything remotely similar to this put out by other S.A. bands?

Re: Now Playing Thread

Noisenik, your mention of Vatican heavy metal in another thread got me to check out the old US heavy/power metal band VATICAN which was recommended to me on a fair recently. Good stuff!

Re: Thoughts on HOLOCAUST "Covenant"

Excellent indeed. Haven't made the effort to check out the rest of their later output though. Got the feeling that "Covenant" was something of a one-off thing, but wouldn't mind to be proven wrong!
