Metalizing the classics (the first masters)
Does anyone have any good examples of metal bands covering classical music? More strictly I mean pretty much a whole movement or piece rather than just a quotation in a song. An obvious one being Cirith Ungol's 'Tocatta in Dm' (I think Vavel did this one too), Mekong Delta doing Mussorgksy's 'Pictur...

I don't remember exactly which ones but I'm pretty sure both Doomsword and The Gates of Slumber have written songs about Elric. That's 'Return to Imyrr' I think for Doomsword. I don't read any sci-fi so it's always interesting to hear what a song I really like is based on. Someone was explaining to...

this thread makes my brain hurt. how to compare!?? I hope I'll remember never to think about this question again  It is often impossible to compare different bands and say which is better. What it all comes down to, at least I think so, is what bands have meant the most to you because you disc...

Yeah, just tried to google both of the non-vinyl Magnit albums.. It seems they've been released on reel-to-reel tapes (only?), hah! That's just sad... That's crazy isn't it!? Especially considering the quality of the material, number of musicians involved and production. I think 'Dies Irae' was rel...

I actually like 'Детектив' or 'De-tech-teeve' better than 'Dies Irae' because its got that baritone voiced blokey singing on all the songs, which are all killer. 'Слушай Рок' i think is 'we love rock' or something and is bloody catchy, 'Снег' is like Holy Diver, only with some additional twiddly bit...

All these have been discussed before. Soon to merged.. This isn't quite the same...for you see I mean't in a row. Consecutively. Dominoed. Connected by the todger. Stern abreast. Port-Out-Starboard-Home. On-a-run. Capriciously in possession of the metal phallus of destiny. Specifically. Otherwise I...

I like Turbo (in a so bad it's verging on good again way) more than RiD, SfV and DotF (Only like two or three of the songs). Agreed! Apart from 'Warm Silly Days'/'Parental Guidance' (your 40 years old for gods sake!) I can't resist Turbo.....surely 'Turbo Lover' is an EPIC track? Machine gun sound ...

And those, oh so beautiful, piccolo bass solos, sigh... HA! Rossini was never better served! How about Iron Maiden - Powerslave (5) or Rocka Rolla - Stained Class (4)? Adramelch must be the best band ever since they've made two albums and never failed for one second! :D I think I could go fo...

MANOWAR : Battle Hymns - Into Glory Ride - Hail to England - Sign of the Hammer YEEEEAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH! I think the fact that they did this in 2 bloody years makes it even more remarkable! I can't ...

1. Virgin Steele 2. Manilla Road 3. The rest of the best 4. THE CHUMPS If it was based on an epoch, I'd say early-Manowar and Arch-Fates's Warning are competitive with the Steele. The fudge was strong with those hairy beasts back in the day...then something went wrong. A question? yes: -> What's the...
