Looking forward to seeing the results. Hadn't heard there'd been any rerecording involved. If it's extensive, it's mixed rather well

Forbidden's at least still really good live. How bad did Dane's vocals burn out? Is it worse sounding than Cory Clarke with Trouble?

Yes, definitely! You might not be aware of it, but you also have a desperate need for their '87 demo.

Is there a sociological explanation for the unreasonable disparity in awesome heavy metal band per capita between Denmark and say, Sweden?

no way! that was the first time i saw him! it was pure magic...when DeMaio (if that is the correct spelling) came out to give him that recognition about his long career was priceless...man, and i was only 16  Did DeMaio ever play with Dio in any capacity? There was some talk a few years ago ab...

Man, there's too many bands called Ghost already. The seventies one who released "One Second - When You're Dead" ruled, scary prog-rock stuff. Dig this one's tunes, but nowadays really not a good name to go by. Take a look at Metal Archives alone, it's saturated

I really, really like the three crusty new Darkthrone-albums. Nice to see some originality in sound and the lyrics are downright charming. Can't pick a favorite. I'm really surprised there's not more raving, must be about comfort zones. How come Atlantis Rising gets more acclaim than Gates Of Fire? ...

Shit, it's leaked already. Looking forward to listening to my legit copy. Can't do anything about the damn torrents, but the blogs are easy targets for DMCA's. Unless you consider pirated distribution free promotion, of course

Re: Epic Doom/"Viking" Metal

Did I miss the obligatory mentioning of the mighty Atlantean Kodex? Lots of early Manowar/Solstice stylings. Usually German bands churn out cheese like dairies, but these guys ape the greats with great proficiency and spirit (and make for a damn good interview)

What's the general feeling about Granmax and their excellent second album Kiss Heaven Goodbye? To me it embodies all the greatness and excesses that was metal in the seventies, but post-eighties revisionism seems to exclude this kind of sound from the canon. "Prince of the Southern Ice" ma...

How 'bout Heavy Load's Full Speed At High Level? One of the earliest Swedish metal albums and an endearing take on Judas Priest. I also really like David Feinstein - Midnight Lady/Ship On A Stormy Sea, which not only has Dio's cousin, excellent organ playing ala really fast Uriah Heep but Joey deMai...
