Re: "WARNING! NOT METAL!"-gallery...

Is there a thread for Metal albums witn non-Metal looking covers? I mean stuff that you would probably never guess it's even remotely related, like this one https://i.imgur.com/dFh3OEu.jpg If i had to guess the records musical style just going by that cover alone i'd have expected some Psych perhap...

Loose Connnection

Specifically the 2nd song, 'Midnight Passage' which begins at 4:04. Wouldn't sound out of place on 'Metal Conquest'.

Re: Weird Finds While Cleaning Out Your Collection

I was quite into Gentlemen around 1994/95 Now, this is a good one to quote out of context   Lol! With that in mind, i'll choose my words carefully concerning my ongoing obsession with that album & it's follow up, the similarly mis-quotable 'Black Love'. Noisenik, thanks for the in...

Re: Weird Finds While Cleaning Out Your Collection

It seems my grunge question split the room right down the middle, strong opinions on either side & not much ambivalance. I've likely said so on here before but the so-called grunge thing always struck me as the 'emperor's new clothes'. The bands were lumped together & marketed as if they wer...

FOX - In The Beginning...There Was An End https://s33.postimg.cc/b2v0kqwnz/fox.jpg Sadly, not a trace of Metal on this one either. Instead we get lengthy prog-rock tracks with a style that's roughly comparible to Flock's 'Dinosaur Swamps' album. Some good guitar playing, (and nifty flute & horns...

Re: Weird Finds While Cleaning Out Your Collection

But looks like in the early nineties I was wandering around and after a decade of heavy metal I was "open" as it seems for other musical tastes... I found myself in much the same place as you Zanker. Exploring other styles in search of those musical thrills that seemed to be in short supp...

Re: Genres You Got Tired Of

Let's not LOL at autism either. I really don't think that was what was happening. Darkness Descends is a must, even if one stands on eyelashes. That's an interesting turn of phrase Noisenik & one that i'm unfamiliar with, what does it mean exactly? Haha, it's a very rough translation of our loc...

Re: Genres You Got Tired Of

chugging riffs without any purpose other than buying time, the middle of the road approach You totally nailed the problem with many of those bands in that era right there Cochino. There was a sameyness & a lack of creativity that crept in around '87 that showed up the lack of imagination & ...

Re: "Did I hear that right?!"

Not really Metal, but you may remember the band Kingdom Come? My friend Stuart bought their 'In Your Face' album on cassette back in the day, and that damn tape lived in his car's cassette deck for months to the point where i knew it off by heart eventually. One of the songs still cracks me up laugh...

Re: Genres You Got Tired Of

I can totally relate to what you both said about Thrash too, it's a genre i rarely revisit nowadays. As much as i loved (for example) Nuclear Assault back then, i can't get through more than 3 or 4 songs at a time nowadays. I'll always hang on to those discs as they have so much sentimental value to...

Re: The Mighty ZEKE Return With 'Hellbender'!

Incredible record! Their most exxxtreme effort so far! Saw them live yesterday here in Belgium. As always an incredible experience. One of the best live bands ever! I've yet to have the pleasure of seeing them live unfortunately, but hopefully i will one day. Did the new guitarist handle any of the...

Re: Early SODOM

I never got into Sodom, i prefered the manic precision of Kreator when it came to German Thrash Metal. 'Pleasure To Kill' completely blew my mind back in the day. I'm probably the wrong guy to be commenting though as i confess i have a bit of a problem with German bands in general. If they sing in E...
