Re: What's Still Great 20 Years Later?

20 years since 'Power Trip' seems crazy, but it still stands up rather nicely i think. Although i didn't hear 'Twilight Of The Idols' until many years after it's initial release, it too still sounds great in the hear & now. I randomly heard 'What You Need' by Entombed the other day and made a me...

Re: Weird Finds While Cleaning Out Your Collection

'Kit- "Moxy", yeah, let's go with that! Sounds a lot better than saying I have weird-ass musical tastes :) You're very welcome my friend, i'm trying to bring 'moxy' back, it's a great little word that's on the verge of undeserved extinction, so try & slip it into a conversation someti...

Re: Weird Finds While Cleaning Out Your Collection

'Powerage' is practically nonexistent in America. Wow, really? It's always been my favorite AC/DC album. My brother gave me the CD as a birthday gift back when I was getting into metal at 12/13 and I think it's still the only one I can't start listening without finishing it, without skipping any so...

Re: The Metal Compilopedia – Now w/ PICTURES

Nice job DaN, the overhaul's certainly made it far more appealing to the eye. Also, being able to easily access those 'Collectable labels & special selections' categories will make navigation far easier. As set in my ways and resistant to change as i am, your new tweaks have greatly improved the...

Re: True Gay Metal For Real Men

"I raise my fist as a True Metal Warrior bringing death to all poseurs..... oh, and I've been a very naughty boy and need a spanking" You're absolutely right, i can't think of any other sexual 'kink' that's so well represented as bondage is in Metal. My favourite example is this cla...

Re: "WARNING! NOT METAL!"-gallery...

Trivia corner : would you believe that the guitarist from Rubicon ended up in Ozzy's band? Based on that limp track you posted neither would i, but Rubicon did indeed feature one Brad Gillis on guitar who was the guitarist on Oz's live Talk Of The Devil album, before leaving to form Night Ranger wit...

Re: The Metal Compilopedia – Now a database!

Thanks for your time Kit. Alecstar sounds fine to my ears, from what I found on Youtube. About Kentucky (totally forgot about them...), they played decent southern/country rock. Not an exclusive track though, as it can be found on their sole LP from 1982. Not sure if it's worth it after all, though...

Re: "WARNING! NOT METAL!"-gallery...

I like this album! The other Gone too Far LP you where talking about is the first one and 3 songs are on both LP's. I do not hear a difference soundwise, soundquality is very good on both. But the songs on the first one are better indeed. Only problem is that "Mama we're all crazy know" s...

Re: True Gay Metal For Real Men

Slightly off-topic, as it's about a transexual or a crossdresser, but how about 'He's a Woman - She's a Man' by the Scorpions? Not very enlightened from a lyrical standpoint, but i'll cut them a little slack as English is their second language and i suppose it kind of follows the same tradition as ...

Re: The Metal Compilopedia – Now a database!

Anyone familiar with this compilation? DaN, Keir, BigFoot ? https://www.discogs.com/Various-OUR-969-FM-THE-ROCK-OF-CENTRAL-NEW-YORK-ALBUM-VOL-2/release/9931637 Any hard rock / early metal / southern rock bands on it? (except for the Justice McBride Band, which I'm already aware of...) I did a bit o...

Re: "WARNING! NOT METAL!"-gallery...

I remember liking this, but that was 30 years ago. I might have to give it a listen again. For me, it has a good uptempo Hard Rock opener ('Bitch') and a hypnotic moody closer ('The Stand'), but inbetween those two songs it veers between the average & the downright insipid. Fair play to the gui...

Re: "WARNING! NOT METAL!"-gallery...

Damn, the music on that Stage record is utterly appalling, what a waste of a cool cover. This is another one to avoid, despite the Metallic sounding band name & cover art, unless you have a liking for sub-par Pat Benatar style female fronted AOR: https://s18.postimg.org/qpyxdzwyx/folder.jpg rwUZ...
