Re: Same Riff??? (Riff-Off)

Been on a total old school Black Metal binge and I was checking out the Amon demos when I stumbled on what sounds eerily like this famous Thorns/Mayhem riff. I don't think many people outside of Norway had heard the Thorns demos so this is quite odd. https://youtu.be/aeNvnPj1BwY?t=375 Amon (Cze) - N...

Re: Crap Song Of The Day

tUVr2xnGIEo Shameful and beyond crap. Impale them on the horns of death. I was holding out some hope for that having the possibility of being a decent film somehow. But wow that is about the crassest way possible to market the film. Also if that's the look they're going for they've already missed t...

Re: Metal on camelback!

While Black Contract is fucking awesome and might just be the most underrated Heavy Metal song ever I assume you meant to link to Stolen Salvation Dan? Obviously we have Prime Offenders ''Powerslave'' and ''Curse of the Pharaos'' as well as just plain ''Egypt'' by Mercyful Fate Heh, I've actually ha...

Re: First ever interview with Sorcery {sinister soldiers]!

Thanks a lot for sharing! Long been a fan of the album, It's much superior to the follow up. Only question i felt missing was how they reacted to another band called Sorcery ( the Stunt Rock band) releasing another proto-metal/hard rock album in the same year.

Re: Early mixes of Heavy Metal and Gothic Rock

Pretty loose criteria if what classifies a band as "gothic" is lyrical content. ?? What are you referring to? I've stated before in this thread that I'm not looking for bands with gothic horror lyrics, but rather early bands influenced by Gothic Rock and Post-punk. Anacrusis? I don't understand? Th...

Re: The Best Metal Covers of Non-metal Songs

The Realm, Anacrusis and Voivod covers are up there for sure! Speaking of Eleanor Rigby, the awesome proto-Epic Metal band Thunderpussy did a cover of that in 1973 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7KyUXV6ioho I have always adored Slough Feg's cover of Dearg Doom: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5n3oZy...

Re: Industrial Metal

My experience with this subgenre is next to none: I heard a Godflesh song in a radio many years ago and did not like it at all. I like Bloodstar, that is labelled as industrial, but I am not certain whether it actually belongs here. To me it sounds like if Hawkwind switched to playing speed/thrash,...
