Re: Songwriting Help
No book that fits your requirements springs to mind unfortunately, but songwriting is an interesting topic for discussion & this section of the forum really doesn't see enough action these days. I sang in bands for years back in the day & always found the songwriting process to be one of th...

Songwriting Help
Hey all, I realize this section of the forum goes largely unnoticed as of late - so I won't be too surprised if this gets 0 replies within a year (heh). But I was wondering, I come up with riffs all the time - and a lot of times I struggle making them into an entire song. So I was wondering if anyon...

Re: Italian metal
Pretty perfect Euro-Power/Speed-demo-Metal I'd say - cheers for the tip. The name definitely sounded familiar, probably because they appeared in quite a few zines at the time: https://thecorroseum.org/fanzines/index.php?band=loadstar&int=on&rev=on&art=on#search No problem, glad I could ...

Re: Italian metal
Believe I did not see any mention of Loadstar in this thread. Great Italian speed metal band that only released a few demos back in the day. Here's an upload of a song of theirs on my channel that I never get around to uploading anything on.

574. Bitches Sin's band name. 575. Randy Uchida's all over the place solos. 576. The Mentors' own slang terminology such as yeash, crustin', grossin', and maxin'. 578. Re: Onyx reissue UNcancelled!
I'm fine with CD, but the CD compilations I have like the Zone Zero one from a few years ago leave a lot to be desired (i.e. wish it was on vinyl instead). CMC are releasing the Zone Zero comp.on vinyl later this year. Guess I'll be spending a lot on vinyl this year then. I bought the 7" reiss...

Re: Onyx reissue UNcancelled!
Really glad that they were able to resolve whatever behind the scenes issues they had. Looking forward to the LP pressing of the comp. Hopefully WITCH's compilation will also inevitably come out on vinyl as well. I'm fine with CD, but the CD compilations I have like the Zone Zero one from a few year...

Re: "complete" collections
The thing I like most about comps is how at their best, you get raw demo-Metal in vinyl form, the finest moment of the early days of the bands - sometimes the only recorded material of a band. Since me & Keir started the 'Compilopedia' many years ago I've grown into a bit of a nut/completist wh...

Re: "complete" collections
Out of all ridiculous, contrieved, quasi-hipster, bullshit things I've ever collected, this one takes the cake... One day before Xmas the Malaysian/Singapore promo-vinyl HM compilations collection finally got complete: malay-sing-comps.jpg In the pic are also a few splits, since they were sort of m...

Re: Heavy load/glacier/witch cross type reccomendations
A bit on the AOR-ish side but "Redstorm - No Exeption for a Victim of Crime" is a great late Swedish metal gem. One that I'm sure people here know of, Keen Hue - Ogre King is great. A bit Scorpions-leaning I think, but still similar to Heavy Load. Mentioning Keen Hue due to the fact a lot ...

Re: 80's bands gear
Wow, I'm utterly shocked (and more importantly, disappointed) to see this section of the forum is dead. Hopefully there isn't anything wrong with "necro"-ing old threads here. Nowadays if you want a truly old school (i.e. for traditional heavy metal) sound on the affordable side - Marshall...
